a printmaking technique that involves carving a metal plate, typically copper or zinc, with a chisel or graver to create an image
What is "metalcut"?
Metalcut is a printing technique where an image is carved into a metal plate. In this method, the raised parts of the metal plate are inked, while the carved areas are left uninked. When the plate is pressed onto paper, the ink from the raised parts transfers to the paper, creating the print. Metalcut printing is valued for its ability to produce sharp, detailed images and is commonly used for high-quality art prints and intricate designs.
