What is "anesthesia"?
Anesthesia is the use of medications to block pain and sensation during medical procedures or surgeries. It can be given in different ways: locally, to numb a small area; regionally, to numb a larger area of the body; or generally, to put the patient into a sleep-like state where they are unaware of the procedure.
