meat of African wild animals eaten as food
What is "bushmeat"?
Bushmeat refers to the meat obtained from wild animals, typically hunted for consumption in forests, jungles, or other natural habitats. It often includes a variety of animals such as monkeys, antelopes, rodents, reptiles, and birds, among others. Bushmeat is a traditional source of protein for many communities in Africa, Asia, and other regions where access to domesticated livestock may be limited. However, the hunting and consumption of bushmeat can have ecological and public health implications, as it may contribute to the decline of wildlife populations and increase the risk of zoonotic diseases, which are infections that can be transmitted from animals to humans.
