What is a "whiplash injury"?
A whiplash injury happens when the neck is suddenly and forcefully jerked backward and then forward, often occurring in car accidents or during sports. It can result in pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion in the neck and upper back. Symptoms may also include headaches, dizziness, and tingling or numbness in the arms. While most cases of whiplash heal on their own with rest and gentle exercises, some may require medical treatment such as pain management, physical therapy, or in severe cases, immobilization with a neck brace.
