What is an "ape"?
Apes are a group of primates known for their distinct characteristics, including large body size, lack of a tail, and highly developed cognitive abilities. Apes are native to Africa and Southeast Asia, and include species such as chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, orangutans, and humans.
