What is a "gallfly"?

A gallfly, also known as a gall wasp, is a type of small insect that lays its eggs on plants, causing abnormal growths called galls to form. These galls serve as protective shelters for the developing larvae, and once they hatch, the larvae feed on the gall tissue.
