What is "Everyman"?
Everyman is a medieval morality play that centers on the character Everyman, who represents humanity. The story begins when Death is sent by God to summon Everyman to give an account of his life. Throughout the play, Everyman seeks help from various personified concepts, such as Fellowship, Goods, and Knowledge, to accompany him on his final journey. However, most of them abandon him, and he ultimately learns that only Good Deeds will stay with him in death. The play uses allegory to convey moral lessons about living a righteous life and the inevitability of death, emphasizing the importance of repentance and virtuous behavior.
