What is "coccyx"?

The coccyx, commonly known as the tailbone, is a small triangular bone located at the base of the spine. It is the remnant of a tail structure found in some other mammals. The coccyx serves as an attachment point for various muscles, tendons, and ligaments, providing support and stability to the pelvic region. While its functional significance may be reduced in humans, the coccyx still plays a role in weight distribution during sitting and helps protect the lower spine.
