Who is a "nose tackle"?
A nose tackle is a player on the defensive team in American football who lines up directly in front of the center, the player on the other team who snaps the ball to the quarterback. Their main job is to stop the other team’s running plays and make it harder for the quarterback to throw the ball. Nose tackles are usually big and strong so they can push through the offensive line and block plays. They are important for stopping the other team from gaining yards and scoring points.
