Who is a "long reliever"?
A long reliever is a pitcher in baseball who typically enters the game when the starting pitcher is unable to continue, often due to injury or poor performance. They are expected to pitch for several innings, providing the team with more stability in the middle or later stages of the game. Unlike short relievers who pitch for one or two innings, long relievers are used to cover a larger portion of the game, often when the game is out of reach or if the bullpen needs help.
