What is "caught stealing"?
Caught stealing in baseball or softball occurs when a runner tries to steal a base but is tagged out by the defensive team before reaching the base. This typically happens when the runner attempts to move to the next base while the pitcher is delivering the ball, and the catcher or another fielder throws the ball to the base in time to tag the runner out. Being caught stealing is an out for the offensive team and ends the runner's attempt to advance. It is a risky play that relies on timing and quickness.
