What is "Video Home System"?
Video Home System (VHS) is a format for recording and playing back video content on tape-based cassettes. Developed in the 1970s, VHS became widely popular for home video use, allowing people to watch movies and record television programs. VHS tapes are inserted into a VHS player or recorder, which reads or records the video and audio content. The format was known for its convenience and affordability, though it has largely been replaced by digital formats such as DVDs and Blu-ray Discs.
