What are "hip-huggers"?

Hip-huggers are a type of pants or shorts that sit low on the hips and hug the hips and thighs snugly. They were popularized in the 1960s and 1970s as a symbol of youth rebellion and counterculture fashion, and are often associated with the "hippie" style.
