What is "hamantash"?

Hamantaschen are a traditional Jewish pastry that is associated with the holiday of Purim. Hamantaschen are triangular-shaped cookies made from a sweet dough that is filled with a variety of sweet fillings, such as fruit preserves, poppy seed, or chocolate. The pastry dough is typically made from flour, sugar, eggs, and butter, and is rolled out into thin circles. The filling is then spooned onto the center of the circle, and the edges of the dough are folded up to create a triangle shape, leaving the filling exposed in the center.
