What is a "tuba"?

A tuba is a large brass instrument known for its deep, resonant sound and its ability to produce the lowest pitches in the brass family. It features a long, coiled tube that ends in a large bell and uses a set of valves to change the pitch. The player creates sound by buzzing their lips into a wide mouthpiece, and the pitch is adjusted by pressing the valves to alter the airflow through different parts of the tubing.
