What is a "bird dog"?

A bird dog, also known as a gun dog or a sporting dog, is a type of dog that is specifically trained to assist hunters in locating and retrieving game birds, such as ducks, pheasants, quail, and grouse. Bird dogs are typically trained to work in tandem with hunters, using their keen senses of smell, sight, and hearing to locate and flush out game birds, and then retrieve them after they have been shot. There are several different breeds that are commonly used as bird dogs, including but not limited to Pointers, Setters, Retrievers, and Spaniels.
