What is "seborrheic eczema"?
Seborrheic eczema, also known as seborrheic dermatitis, is a common skin condition that causes redness, itching, and flaking on the scalp, face, and other oily areas of the body. It often appears as dandruff on the scalp or as yellow or white crusty patches on the skin. Seborrheic eczema is believed to be caused by a combination of factors, including an overgrowth of yeast on the skin, genetics, and environmental factors. While it can be permanent and may flare up periodically, seborrheic eczema is not contagious or harmful. Treatment typically involves medicated shampoos, creams, or lotions to reduce inflammation and control symptoms.
