effort expended in moving one object over another with pressure
a method of creating an image by applying pigment or graphite to the surface of textured material and then rubbing it with paper
What is "rubbing"?
Rubbing is a technique for creating an image by placing a sheet of paper over a textured surface and then applying pigment or graphite on top. By moving a pencil or other tool across the paper, the texture underneath is transferred onto the surface, revealing the design. This method is often used to capture textures or details from surfaces like coins, tree bark, or carvings, creating a detailed and textured image.
