What is a "passing shot"?

A passing shot in tennis is a shot played by a player to pass an opponent who is at the net. The player aims to hit the ball past the opponent, either along the baseline or near the sideline, making it difficult for the opponent to intercept or return the shot. Passing shots are commonly used when the opponent tries to approach the net to finish a point. They can be executed with both forehand and backhand strokes and are an important tactic in outplaying opponents who move close to the net.
