What is a "motmot"?

A motmot is an enchanting bird species that inhabits the lush tropical regions of the Americas. Known for its striking appearance, the motmot displays a combination of vibrant colors, including shades of green, blue, and brown. Its most distinguishing feature is the racket-tipped tail, which consists of elongated feathers ending in a racket-like shape. These tail feathers are often displayed in courtship rituals or when defending territory. Motmots have a stocky build, a relatively large head, and a straight, stout beak. They are mainly insectivorous but also feed on small vertebrates and fruits. With their keen eyesight and excellent agility, motmots are skilled hunters, often perching silently on branches or hovering in mid-air to catch their prey. Their characteristic call, a melodic "wu-uh," can be heard echoing through the forest as they communicate with each other.
