What is an "appetizer"?
An appetizer is a small portion of food served before the main course of a meal to stimulate the appetite. It is typically served as the first course and is designed to awaken the diner's appetite without filling them up before the main meal. Appetizers can come in various forms, including soups, salads, small bites like bruschetta or crostini, finger foods like spring rolls or dumplings, or cold dishes like seafood cocktails.
