高飞球, 飞球
(baseball) a hit that travels high into the air and is caught by a fielder before it touches the ground
What is a "fly ball"?
A fly ball in baseball or softball is a ball that is hit high into the air, usually by a batter who swings at the ball with power. The ball travels in a high arc and is typically caught by an outfielder or an infielder. Fly balls are often caught for an out, and if the ball is caught before it hits the ground, the batter is out. Fly balls can be difficult to catch, depending on the height and direction of the ball, and they are an important part of a game’s defense.
Example
The outfielder caught the fly ball near the warning track.
The fly ball sailed over the outfield fence for a home run.
She misplayed the fly ball, allowing the batter to reach second base.
