Divisionism is an art technique that began in the late 19th century, mainly developed by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac. The technique involves using individual dots or strokes of basic, unmixed color, which are carefully placed next to each other on the canvas. When viewed from a distance, these dots visually blend together to create a fuller range of shades and colors, giving the painting a vivid quality.
