What is "swine flu"?

Swine flu, also known as the H1N1 influenza virus, is a respiratory illness caused by the influenza A virus. It spreads in a similar way to seasonal flu, mainly through coughing, sneezing, or touching contaminated surfaces. Symptoms of swine flu can include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, fatigue, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.
