What is a "jungle cat"?
The jungle cat (Felis chaus) is a medium-sized wild cat species that is native to regions of Asia and Africa, including countries such as India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran, and Egypt. It has a distinctive appearance with a sandy-brown coat, long legs, and tufted ears. The jungle cat has a slender body and can weigh up to 15 kilograms (33 pounds). Its coat is usually short and dense, and its coloration helps it blend in with its surroundings. The jungle cat is known for its excellent hunting skills, often preying on small mammals, birds, and reptiles. It is also a proficient swimmer and is known to inhabit wetland areas. The jungle cat is solitary in nature and primarily active during twilight hours, known as crepuscular.
