Who is an "ultrasound technician"?

An ultrasound technician is a healthcare professional who specializes in using ultrasound technology to create images of the body's internal organs and tissues. These professionals operate ultrasound equipment to perform imaging procedures, such as imaging the abdomen, pelvis, heart, blood vessels, and developing babies during pregnancy, as requested by physicians to help in diagnosing patients. Ultrasound technicians prepare patients for imaging procedures, position them appropriately, and apply a gel to the skin to help the transmission of sound waves. They then use a handheld device called a transducer to capture images by sending out high-frequency sound waves into the body and recording the echoes that bounce back.
