blood filtering for managing kidney dysfunction or acute renal failure
What is "hemofiltration"?
Hemofiltration is a medical treatment that involves filtering blood to remove waste products and excess fluid from the body. It is used for seriously ill patients with kidney dysfunction or failure to help maintain proper fluid balance and remove toxins that the kidneys would normally filter out. During hemofiltration, blood is taken from the patient, filtered through a machine that removes waste products, and then returned to the body. This process helps to support and improve the condition of patients who are unable to remove these waste products on their own because of kidney issues.
