An Italian hot dog is a type of sandwich that originated in New Jersey. It is made with an Italian-style roll that is split and filled with a combination of hot dogs, peppers, onions, and potatoes that have been deep-fried. The hot dogs are typically sliced and then grilled, and the peppers and onions are sautéed until they are tender and caramelized. The potatoes are sliced and deep-fried until they are crispy. Once all of the ingredients are cooked, they are stuffed into the roll, creating a hearty and flavorful sandwich. Italian hot dogs are often served with condiments such as ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce. They are a popular food item in New Jersey and can be found at many hot dog stands and diners throughout the state.
