However, some types of HPV can cause genital warts or lead to more serious health problems such as cervical, vaginal, vulvar, penile, anal, or oropharyngeal cancers. HPV infections are usually spread through sexual contact, including vaginal, anal, or oral sex, as well as through skin-to-skin contact. Vaccines are available to prevent HPV infection and its associated health problems.
