What is "dysarthria"?
Dysarthria is a speech disorder caused by weakness or difficulty in controlling the muscles involved in speaking. This condition can result from various neurological disorders, such as stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson's disease. Individuals with dysarthria may experience slurred or slowed speech, difficulty with articulation, and changes in voice quality, such as a breathy or nasal tone. Their ability to understand language is usually intact, but the physical challenges in producing speech can lead to communication difficulties.
