What is "texture"?
Texture in music refers to how different layers of sound interact and combine within a piece. It describes the overall arrangement of melodies, harmonies, and rhythms, and how they are put together. Texture can range from a single melody, known as monophonic, to multiple independent melodies, known as polyphonic, or a melody with accompanying harmonies, known as homophonic. It also includes variations like having a mix of melodies and harmonies with different levels of complexity.
