a type of wager where two equal bets are placed on the same selection, one for the selection to win and the other for the selection to place

I placed an each-way bet on the horse, so if it finishes in the top three, I ’ll win something.

If you bet each-way, you have a better chance of getting some money back, even if your horse does n’t win.
