What is "linocut"?
Linocut is a printmaking technique where an image is carved into a linoleum block. The artist cuts away parts of the linoleum to leave a raised design. Ink is then rolled onto the surface of the block, and the block is pressed onto paper to transfer the image. This method is valued for its ability to create bold, graphic prints with clear lines and contrasts. It is often used for artwork, posters, and illustrations.
