Hard liquor refers to distilled alcoholic beverages with high alcohol content. Compared to beer and wine, hard liquors have a more neutral flavor profile and take on aromatic notes mainly from flavorings added during or after distillation. Hard liquors are often enjoyed 'neat' or on the rocks, and mixed into cocktails.Because of their high alcohol content, hard liquors hit the drinker faster and harder than lower alcohol beverages,requiring more care to avoid excess. Though meant for sipping and moderation, hard liquors also lend themselves to excessive consumption due to their potency and ease of masking with mixers.
