A center back is a player in soccer or American football who plays in the middle of the defense. Their main job is to stop the opposing team from scoring by blocking or clearing the ball away from their goal. They are responsible for marking the other team's attackers and winning headers, especially during crosses or corner kicks. Center backs are usually strong, good at tackling, and good at organizing the defense to prevent the other team from getting close to the goal.
