What is "aortic valve"?
The aortic valve is located between the left ventricle and the aorta, and it consists of three cusps or leaflets. When the left ventricle contracts, the aortic valve opens, allowing oxygenated blood to be pumped into the aorta. Once the ventricle relaxes, the aortic valve closes to prevent the backflow of blood into the ventricle. This closure creates a one-way flow of blood, ensuring proper circulation and distribution of oxygenated blood to the body's tissues and organs. The aortic valve plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and integrity of the cardiovascular system.
