Sloth bears are smaller than other bear species, with an average length of about 5 to 6 feet and a weight ranging from 200 to 300 pounds. They are primarily insectivorous, with a diet that consists mostly of termites and ants, which they extract using their specialized snout and powerful claws. Sloth bears are excellent climbers and are known for their ability to tear apart termite mounds with their strong forelimbs and teeth. They are primarily solitary animals and are usually active during the night, spending much of their time foraging for food.
