A cathode-ray tube (CRT) is a technology used in older television and computer monitors to display images. It works by sending an electron beam through a vacuum tube onto a phosphorescent screen. The screen is coated with tiny phosphor dots that glow when struck by the electron beam, creating images and text. CRTs were widely used for many decades, but they are now largely replaced by flat-panel technologies like LCD, LED, and OLED.
