Autonomic ganglia contain cell bodies of autonomic neurons that control involuntary bodily functions, such as heart rate, digestion, and breathing. Dysfunction of the ganglia can result in a range of neurological disorders, including chronic pain syndromes, gastrointestinal disorders, and autonomic dysfunction.
