What is a "knock-on"?
A knock-on in rugby occurs when a player accidentally loses possession of the ball and it goes forward, either by the ball hitting the player's hands or arms and then touching the ground or another player. This is considered a mistake and results in a stoppage of play. The opposing team is then awarded a scrum at the location where the knock-on happened.
