What are "Dravidian languages"?
Dravidian languages are a family of languages primarily spoken in southern India and parts of northeastern Sri Lanka. Major Dravidian languages include Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. These languages are characterized by agglutinative grammar, where words are formed by adding various prefixes and suffixes, and a rich system of verb conjugation. Dravidian languages have ancient literary traditions, with Tamil being one of the oldest continuously spoken languages in the world. The study of Dravidian languages offers insights into the history, culture, and social structures of the Dravidian-speaking peoples, as well as their interactions with other language families in the region.
