What is "motor cortex"?
The motor cortex is a region of the cerebral cortex that is primarily involved in the planning, control, and execution of voluntary movements. Located in the frontal lobe of the brain, it plays a crucial role in coordinating the movements of different body parts. The motor cortex receives input from other brain regions and sends signals to the muscles, enabling us to perform precise and coordinated movements. It is organized in a somatotopic manner, meaning that different areas of the motor cortex correspond to specific body parts.
