The anterior tibial artery is one of the major arteries in the lower leg that arises from the popliteal artery behind the knee. It travels along the front of the leg, passing through the interosseous membrane, and continues down to the dorsum of the foot. This artery is responsible for supplying oxygenated blood to the muscles, bones, and skin of the anterior compartment of the leg, as well as the front part of the foot.
