Who is a "reliever"?
A reliever is a player in baseball or softball who comes into the game to replace the starting pitcher or another pitcher. Their job is to pitch for a short time, usually when the starting pitcher gets tired or has been taken out. Relievers often specialize in specific situations, such as getting a batter out in a tight spot or finishing a game. They play an important role in keeping the game under control and helping their team win.
