What is an "omnibus"?
An omnibus is a large vehicle designed to carry many passengers, similar to a modern bus. It was commonly used in the past as a shared form of transportation in cities, following a fixed route and stopping at different locations to pick up and drop off people. Early omnibuses were often pulled by horses before motorized versions were introduced. Over time, the term "omnibus" became less common, and "bus" is now the preferred word for this type of vehicle.
