warp and weft
01
the two basic components of woven fabrics, the warp is the set of parallel threads that run lengthwise on the loom, while the weft is the set of perpendicular threads that are woven over and under the warp threads to create the fabric
What are "warp and weft"?
In weaving, warp and weft are the two main sets of threads used to create fabric. The warp threads run vertically on the loom and are held in place while the fabric is being woven. The weft threads run horizontally and are woven over and under the warp threads. By interlacing the weft through the warp, different patterns and designs can be created in the fabric.
