What is "avian flu"?
Avian flu, also known as bird flu, is a viral infection caused by influenza viruses that primarily affect birds. Human cases of avian flu typically occur after close contact with infected birds or contaminated environments. Symptoms of avian flu in humans can vary but may include fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, and pneumonia. Severe cases can lead to complications and even death.
