Who is "Agamemnon"?
Agamemnon is a central figure in Greek mythology, best known as the king of Mycenae and the leader of the Greek forces during the Trojan War. He played a key role in the ten-year conflict against Troy, commanding the Greek army alongside his brother, Menelaus, whose wife, Helen, was taken to Troy. Agamemnon's story is marked by tragedy; upon returning home after the war, he was murdered by his wife, Clytemnestra, and her lover, Aegisthus, in revenge for his earlier decision to sacrifice their daughter, Iphigenia, to appease the gods. His life and death highlight themes of power, betrayal, and the consequences of pride and violence.
